Environmentally friendly business; eco-friendly scenery

The drive for sustainability is more critical than ever, and that includes in the ever-evolving business landscape. As a fully remote agency, FixxeL Marketing reduces environmental impacts through both short- and long-term operational choices. With those and by adhering to GHG Protocol Scope 3 measures, of which more than 9 out of 10 Fortune 500 companies reporting to the CDP use*, we at FixxeL ensure our carbon footprint remains as minimal as possible. Here are seven steps FixxeL Marketing Agency takes to maintain our eco-conscious approach, plus an explanatory rundown.

  1. Understanding the GHG Protocol and Scope 3 Emissions — *The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol is an internationally recognized framework for measuring and managing greenhouse gas emissions. Emissions are categorized into three scopes:

    • Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources.

    • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling.

    • Scope 3: All other indirect emissions occurring within a company’s value chain, such as employee commuting, business travel, waste disposal, and supply chain impacts.

At FixxeL, we focus on Scope 3 emissions because of our entirely remote operational model.

  1. Minimizing Commuting Emissions. As a fully remote team, FixxeL avoids one of the largest contributors to Scope 3 emissions: employee commuting. By eliminating the need for physical offices, we reduce reliance on fossil fuels and the associated carbon emissions from daily travel. According to the GHG Scope 3 Protocol, commuting is a major contributor to corporate carbon footprints, but one we’ve ‘virtually’ eliminated.

  2. Innovating with Digital Business Cards and NFC Technology. In place of traditional business cards, we’ve embraced digital alternatives, NFC (Near Field Communication) chips, profiles, and codes, which allow for seamless, contactless information sharing through tokens and mobile devices. This cutting-edge approach not only demonstrates FixxeL's forward-thinking ethos but also eliminates the paper and production waste associated with printed business cards, further reducing our business’s eco-footprint.

  3. Waste Reduction and Responsible Consumption. In the digital realm, we produce minimal physical waste. Our reliance on cloud-based infrastructure and digital communication helps us reduce the need for paper and other physical resources. This reduction in material consumption also aligns with the GHG Scope 3 Protocol’s approach to waste management and minimizing indirect emissions.

  4. Energy Efficiency, Cloud Computing, Supply Chain, and Service-Provider Considerations. Though FixxeL’s remote model minimizes many direct emissions, we still assess and manage emissions associated with third-party service providers (like software, cloud storage, and subcontractors). By mindfully choosing sustainable vendors and service providers who prioritize low-carbon operations, we extend our eco-friendly practices throughout our value chain in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Scope 3-Protocol Guidelines. Services we use such as Dell and Google for Business's Google Cloud computing prioritize renewable energy, such to ensure that our digital presence contributes minimally to our overall carbon footprint. Scope 3 requires companies to account for energy use in the value chain, and we work with and utilize sustainable partners in this area.

  5. Limiting Business Travel. Another key contributor to Scope 3 emissions is traveling on business. We collaborate online and conduct virtual meetings which significantly reduces the need for airline and by-land travel, otherwise increasing our carbon output like other businesses can do. This aligns with our above commitment to minimizing travel-related emissions and achieving a Low-Emission Operational Model.

  6. Reducing Shipping; Physical Products’ Usage. Since FixxeL doesn’t require physical products, this significantly cuts down on shipping emissions. By eliminating the need for transportation via shipping trucks or air freight, we avoid associated use and burning of fossil fuels. This not only reduces environmental impact, but aligns with the GHG Scope 3's focus on “indirect emissions throughout a company’s value chain.”

  7. A Science-Based Approach to Sustainability. Last but not least, at FixxeL™, our commitment to sustainability is fact- and data-based, and grounded in science—as are with all our business-to-marketing dealings. Adhering to the GHG Scope 3 model enables us to continuously assess our carbon impact and find new ways to minimize emissions, ensuring that we contribute as little as possible to environmental degradation.

FixxeL Marketing Agency going by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol’s Scope 3 model demonstrates that it’s possible to run a high-impact business without leaving a significant environmental footprint.
